3 Tips to Improve Your Mindset

3 Tips to Improve Your Mindset

1) Take responsibility

If you blame and have excuses for why things are the way they are then you have already lost. Change the way you look at things, everything is a choice even down to the way you look at things out of your control.

There is always something you can control or do, so do that thing rather than waste your time on thinking about it.

2) Worry is an indicator

If you are worried about something ask yourself this question. “Is there anything I can do to stop this feeling?” If the answer is yes, then do what you have to! If the answer is no, then you need to move on.

Many times we worry about things that just need some attention, but we choose to procrastinate. Other times there is nothing we can do and we are just worried because we can't think of anything else.

Think of something else that could use your attention and put action there.

3) No Event can be judged by itself!

All things effect all things. Are you familiar with the Chinese proverb about the farmer and his son? Here is the story:

“A farmer and his son had a beloved horse who helped the family earn a living. One day, the horse ran away and their neighbours exclaimed, “Your horse ran away, what terrible luck!” The farmer replied, “Maybe so, maybe not.”

A few days later, the horse returned home, leading a few wild horses back to the farm as well. The neighbours shouted out, “Your horse has returned, and brought several horses home with him. What great luck!” The farmer replied, “Maybe so, maybe not.”

Later that week, the farmer’s son was trying to break one of the horses and she threw him to the ground, breaking his leg. The neighbours cried, “Your son broke his leg, what terrible luck!” The farmer replied, “Maybe so, maybe not.”

A few weeks later, soldiers from the national army marched through town, recruiting all boys for the army. They did not take the farmer’s son, because he had a broken leg. The neighbours shouted, “Your boy is spared, what tremendous luck!” To which the farmer replied, “Maybe so, maybe not. We’ll see.” - Chinese Proverb
